Sergio is a lawyer with a degree from Universidad San Francisco de Quito and holds a Master’s in Civil Patrimonial Law from Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile.

His practice focuses on civil and constitutional law, with a particular emphasis on litigation. He represents clients in dispute resolution before judicial, arbitral, and administrative bodies. At NMS, he leads the Litigation Department, overseeing the strategy and management of the firm’s contentious proceedings. Before joining the firm, he served as legal advisor at Ecuador’s Constitutional Court, where he contributed to drafting key rulings, particularly on jurisdictional guarantees and tax law from a constitutional perspective.

In academia, Sergio is a professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito. He has published articles in highly regarded legal journals, both national and international, on civil and constitutional law topics, with particular attention to the constitutional analysis of tax matters. He has also participated as a speaker at conferences and academic forums on various legal subjects.
