EXPERIENCE

A founding partner in the firm, Marco focuses his practice on ongoing advising to more than 16 airlines, both national and foreign. His professional trajectory has allowed him to become a leader in the field of aeronautics and aviation in Ecuador. In fact, in light of his experience in regulatory issues and aircraft financing, his stature in the country has been recognized by the international publication Who’s Who Legal.

Marco’s work in the area of aeronautics and aviation involves advising and representing national and international companies that are entering or operating in the country. He has also participated in the negotiation of bilateral agreements in the area of aviation.

In addition, he advises and represents the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Ecuador and on several occasions has been invited to meetings of aviation leaders organized by the Latin American Air Transportation Association (ALTA).

Marco has more than 25 years of experience as a specialist in regulatory and related matters. His recent efforts include:

  • Negotiation and representation of airlines with the Quito Airport concession-holder (Quiport), to set fees for its operations
  • Obtention of the respective authorizations from Ecuador’s aviation authorities for unification of the operations of Avianca Group companies under a single brand name

Obtention of the Ministry of Labor Relations’ final ruling to exclude airport and GSA personnel from Mandate 8 of national outsourcing regulations

    • President of the Association of Airline Representatives in Ecuador (ARLAE) for three periods (2008-2014) and again from October 2016 to date.
    • Member and chairman of ARLAE’s legal commission, from 2005 to date.
    • Member of the ARLAE board of directors, from 2004 to date.
    • Vice-president of the Provincial Chamber of Tourism for Pichincha (CAPTURP), from June 2013 to June 2015, reelected for June 2015 to date.
    • Member of the board of directors of the Provincial Chamber of Tourism for Pichincha (CAPTUR), 2010-2012.
    • Member of the board of directors of the Ecuadorian Federation of Tourism Chambers (FENACAPTUR), 2008 – 2010.
    • Founding member of the National Association of Aviation Companies (ADENA).
    • Founding member of the Ecuadorian Tourism Law Institute.
    • Dues-paying member of the Ibero-American Institute of Aeronautical, Space and Commercial Aviation Law (UN consulting agency).
